120 flights delayed, 30 trains running late; Delhi fog & cold wave continue to give shiver to travellers
Arrival and departure of 120 flights, both domestic and international, to Delhi airport were affected due to dense fog and cold wave conditions on Wednesday, according to Delhi Airport FIDS (Flight Information Display System).
As per the Delhi Airport FIDS, a total of 53 flights, including 21 domestic arrivals, 16 domestic departures, 13 international departures and three international arrivals scheduled are cancelled and not operating due to fog and other operational reasons from and to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the national capital on 17 January.

Visuals from the Delhi airport showed passengers waiting outside, checking update of their scheduled flights. There were also some people waiting for flight of their families, friends and loved ones to arrive, which got delayed due to fog.

"I have come from Dubai. My flight was delayed by 2:00 hours...My flight had been rescheduled for today...," said a passenger Mritunjay Kumar at IGI airport.

Trains to Delhi 24-25 hours late
At least 30 trains arriving at New Delhi Railway station (NDLS) are running late. Trains coming from long distances are reporting delay of 24-25 hours.
Premium trains like Vande Bharat, Shatabdi and Rajdhani are delayed too due to fog conditions in Delhi and national capital region (NCR).

Delhi weather forecast
Delhi has witnessed temperatures falling below the 4 degree mark in the morning for five days in a row.
“Because there is no cloud cover in the city at present, the nights are very cold. This is expected to continue for at least one more week. The cold wave conditions, meanwhile, are expected to last till Thursday,” a report by Indian Express citied an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official as saying.
Meanwhile, cold wave conditions and dense fog are expected on Wednesday as well, with the IMD issuing an ‘orange alert’ for fog in the national capital for 17 and 18 January morning.
“We are expecting very dense to dense fog on Wednesday and Thursday morning. The weather is supposed to be clear thereafter, but cold winds are expected for at least two more days. The minimum temperature, however, is expected to remain below the normal mark of 7 to 7.5 degrees Celsius for the whole week,” the report citied the official as saying.
