New Delhi : Uttrakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited sinking Joshimath on Saturday to assess the situation on the ground, and said that scientists were looking into the cause of the land subsidence and the first priority remains to ensure that people are taken to safer areas. New Delhi: Mumbai resident Shankar Mishra, who is accused of urinating on a co-passenger onboard an Air India flight from New York to Delhi, was arrested by the Delhi Police on Saturday. Mishra who allegedly in an inebriated condition, urinated on his co-passenger has been arrested from Bengaluru and brought to Delhi, police said. Further investigation into the case is in progress. Delhi Police on Thursday had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) for the accused. The 34-year-old Mishra had absconded after the 71-year-old victim lodged a complaint. Two incidents of men urinating on female co-passengers on different Air India flights have come to light recently, prompting widespread outrage. Referring to the November incident where an inebriated man allegedly urinated on a senior citizen, the aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), slammed the Tata Group-owned airline, saying its conduct was “unprofessional” and led to “systemic failure”. Even though the incident happened late last year, Air India filed a police complaint only on 4 January against the offender, Mumbai businessman Shankar Mishra, NDTV reported citing the First Information Report (FIR). Air India has launched a probe into the incident that took place on its New York to Delhi flight on 26 November, and also imposed a 30-day flying ban on the businessman. New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has directed the Chief Engineer (Road Safety) to create a policy for the implementation of smooth transition in lane configuration with adequate signages and warnings to reduce accidents. According to an office memorandum issued on Wednesday, the ministry also said that road safety audits will be mandatorily conducted at every stage of project implementation – planning, preparation, designing, implementation, and operation. “Post construction commercial operation shall be allowed only after road safety audit,” the memo, signed by Sudip Chaudhury Chief Engineer (Planning), said. The Ministry also said in case of hazardous and accident-prone zones, the infrastructure will be developed with sufficient structures, like flyovers.
