As widely reported, Justice Surya Kant of the Supreme Court of India, referring to Nupur Sharma, the former spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, remarked: “This lady is single-handedly responsible for what is happening in the country.” The honourable judge of the highest court of the land was responding to the submission of Sharma’s lawyer, senior advocate Maninder Singh, that his client’s life was under threat. Let us recall that Sharma had already apologised, but Justice Kant was not satisfied: “She was too late to withdraw”; moreover, she had apologised “conditionally,” and that “sentiments” had been “hurt.” Justice Kant added, “She should have gone to the TV and apologised to the nation.” Sharma was pleading for the multiple FIRs filed against her to be clubbed, but the two-member bench presided over by Justice Kant, was not convinced: “The conscience of the court is not satisfied.” Without questioning the wisdom of the Supreme Court let alone its ruling, one might wonder

Uddhav Thackeray sacks Eknath Shinde as 'Shiv Sena leader'

Mumbai : Ten days after Eknath Shinde launched a rebellion against him which led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray removed the newly appointed chief minister from the post of Shiv Sena leader for indulging in "anti-party activities". CA Day 2022: History, significance and wishes to share on the occasion

Chartered Accountants' (CA) day is celebrated annually on 1 July with an aim to commemorate the findings of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) by Parliament in 1949. The ICAI is the only licensing and regulatory body for the profession of accounting and financial auditing in India. History Before India became independent, the British government in India maintained accounts as per the provisions of the Companies Act. The auditor appointed for this task was expected to be certified but over the years, the designation morphed to various degrees where the accountancy profession was largely unregulated and created confusion with regards to the qualifications of auditors. In 1948, after India got independent, an expert committee recommended that there should be a separate autonomous associ
