SpiceJet pilots grounded for coffee cup in cockpit: What do Indian aviation rules say?

Image
A cup full of beverage inside a cockpit has landed two SpiceJet pilots in trouble. The private Indian airline has grounded its pilots after a picture of an open coffee cup perched on the flight deck’s centre console was widely shared on social media earlier this week. While the pilots are not visible in the image, the cup – which had the airline’s logo – can be seen dangerously placed on a start lever of the plane. The hands of the pilots holding gujiyas – a sweet dish – can also be seen. The viral photo prompted outrage online with many calling out the pilots over their purported reckless behaviour. A SpiceJet spokesperson has said that both pilots have been taken off the roster pending an inquiry. “SpiceJet has a strict policy (regarding) consumption of food inside the cockpit which is adhered by all flight crew. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken upon completion of the investigation,” the spokesperson told CNN. Why has the incident caused furore? What do the aviati

New Delhi : Former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti was appointed as India’s envoy after over two year’s vacancy. His name was confirmed by the US Senate on Wednesday. Garcetti takes over the reins at a crucial and testing time when geopolitics has been shaped by the Ukraine-Russia war and the differing views that America and India have taken on the conflict. He inherits robust bilateral relations—India at the centre of the G-20 and a driving force of the Quad—but also at a time when India has certainly emerged as the beacon of not just world economy, but politics too. A look back at his appearance in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 2021 is a window into Garcetti’s mind and perception of India. Unfortunately, he carries the mantle of continuity with regard to the West’s sanctimony on democracy and values when looking at other nations, especially India. In 2021, when former LA Mayor Eric Garcetti appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he made conten
