Explained: What are tilting trains that India will introduce soon?

Image
India’s railway sector is growing fast. With the introduction of Vande Bharat trains, the country will also get its first tilting trains by the year 2025. Much like a motorbike moving on a winding road, the tilting technology will enable trains to easily manoeuvre curves without turning their speed down by a notch. As many as 100 Vande Bharat trains produced over the next few years will be equipped with this technology, hoping to improve their speed. A PTI report quoted a senior railway official saying, “We will have tilting trains in the country. We will tie up with a technology partner for this. We will have this technology in 100 Vande Bharat trains over the next two to three years.” Let’s take a closer look. How do tilting trains work? It’s all physics. Exclusive | Manmohan Singh will certainly go down in history as an outstanding Prime Minister: C Rangarajan

“One doesn’t plan one’s life fully. Some of it is planned, but some of it is purely accidental. Much of my life is a matter of circumstances,” writes former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor C Rangarajan in his just published memoirs, Forks in the Road: My Days at RBI and Beyond (Penguin; Rs 699). As one flips through the book, it becomes obvious that Rangarajan’s life has been full of accidents that led him from the quant IIM-A (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad) campus to the buzzing and buzzling RBI corridors in Delhi in 1981. A decade later, he got the opportunity to steer the country out of an unprecedented financial crisis, under the political stewardship of PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh. Such was the crisis in 1991 that India had to send 46 tonnes of gold outside its shores. The move, however, shook the nation out of its false sense of economic security, he says. Rangarajan was the RBI Governor between 1992 and 1997, which without doubt was one of the most cha

There is something about Air India’s air hostesses and glamour. In the ’70s and ’80s when the Tatas owned the airline, they were often referred to as ‘hawai sundaris’ and were considered the epitome of glamour, glitz and jet set lifestyle, enjoying holidays that few others could afford. However, as time passed by and other airlines entered the market, these attendants lost their novelty. Now, as the Tatas have taken back control of the airline, it seems they want to recapture the glitz and glamour of the days gone by and have issued a new set of guidelines on grooming for its male and female cabin crew. In issuing the new guidelines, a source from the company was quoted as saying to ANI , “Air India is the only airline in the country which has been serving the world for many decades. The new management wants to change the perception of flyers.” New rules for female cabin crew Female cabin crew members h

The plaintiff and appellant claimed they were married according to the Arya Samaj rituals and even presented an Arya Samaj Trust marriage certificate before the court.
