Delhi’s Ashram flyover to remain shut from 25 December for extension to DND

The Ashram flyover in Delhi will be closed for 45 days from 25 December for the completion of its integration with the new extension and construction of a connecting road. The move is likely to result in huge traffic snarls in the area. The work to connect the Ashram flyover to the Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) flyway has been underway since 2020. The project is aimed at easing traffic at the busy Ashram intersection and facilitating a commute between Delhi and Noida. Now, the extension project is nearing its completion and the Public Works Department (PWD) has received approval from the traffic police to close the flyover temporarily. After the major flyway will be closed, alternate routes are expected to experience heavy traffic jams, a report by The Times of India said. Delhi Traffic Police took to Twitter and issued an advisory. “Due to the extension of the Ashram Flyover to the New DND Flyover, both carriageways of the Ashram Flyover road will remain closed for 45 days from 25.12.22.

Satellite imagery shows Tawang clash no one-off incident, China appears prepped for much more

New Delhi: China may be preparing for another attempt at grabbing Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh. If satellite images are anything to go by, there is ample evidence that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is gearing up for another tussle with the Indian Army in the Tawang sector despite the thrashing it had received during its last LAC transgression a few days ago. According to a report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, China has made military preparations on a large scale from Doklam near its disputed border with Bhutan to the LAC at Arunachal Pradesh. Sattelite images accessed by the institute show massive infrastructure build-up by China in the territory controlled by the PLA in the Yangtse plateau over the last year. While India maintains control of the commanding heights on the Yangtse plateau, China has tried to compensate for this disadvantage by building new military and transport infrastructure that allows the PLA to get troops quickly into the area.

India to buy MQ-9 Reaper, the drone that killed Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri

New Delhi: India is likely to purchase MQ-9 Reaper drones in a billion-dollar deal with the US. These drones, which use laser-guided Hellfire missiles for precision strikes, fall in the category of hunter-killer Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The US had reportedly used the MQ-9 Reaper drone for an air strike on a compound in Kabul, Afghanistan that had allegedly killed Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri. According to media reports, India is preparing to acquire the MQ-9 Reaper drone for all the three military services of the Indian Armed forces. However, the Indian government is yet to come out with an official statement on this issue. In 2017, the Indian Navy had taken these drones on lease for two years. They were being operated for surveillance of activities by the PLA Navy (PLAN) of China in the Indian Ocean. During the peak of the military stand-off with China in eastern Ladakh in 2020, India had leased two MQ-9A drones from US-based company General Atomics under a Company-Own

The joint statement mentioned that the two leaders “directed trade officials on both sides to start negotiations within the calendar year 2022 and to complete these at the earliest, in time for

From Droupadi Murmu to Mahsa Amini: Those who grabbed headlines in 2022

It has been a grim year dominated by war, crisis, and protests. But in India, we had a lot to cheer about, especially as women made their mark. As the year ends, the conflict rages on but there was something to cheer for as Lionel Messi’s Argentina lifted the trophy at the FIFA World Cup 2022. There are several who hit headlines for scripting history; the others for not-so-good reasons. As 2022 closes to an end, we take a look back at the newsmakers who had our attention. Volodymyr Zelenskyy    If there is one real hero to be picked for the year, it is undoubtedly Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy . The president is TIME magazine’s 2022 Person of the Year. The comic-turned-politician was little known before Russia invaded Ukraine on 26 February. Today, he has left the world inspired as his country has fought the mighty Russian military for ten months. Zelenskyy is not a leader watching from the sidelines. He is in the thick of things. And he is not the one to back down. In April, Z
