Sonali Phogat death: Family claims cops not doing proper probe due to political sway; to move HC for CBI investigation

New Delhi: Family of the late Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat has expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation being carried out by the Goa Police into her death case. They now have decided to approach the Goa High Court and demand CBI probe into the matter. “Goa Police is not doing proper investigation… I think political influence is also behind this, so now we will move to Goa High Court demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe,” news agency ANI quoted Phogat’s nephew Vikas Singh as saying. However, a new chapter regarding this practice has unfolded in recent times. An old video of a US doctor recommending sit-ups in the exact desi style has resurfaced on the internet. Watch: Villagers take sick man to hospital on makeshift boat in flooded Bihar

There is no denying the fact that desperate times call for desperate measures. This expression sits perfectly with the recent turn of events in Bihar. In a shocking incident, water-logged roads during the flood-like scenario in Bihar forced the villagers to improvise and take a sick person to the hospital on a boat made of plastic containers, bamboo sticks, and ropes. Yes, that’s true. The video, which belongs to Bihar’s Bhagalpur district, was shared by news agency ANI on their official Twitter account. Reportedly, the district lacks the proper system to ferry patients to the hospital during the floods, and now the emergence of this video appears to be proving those claims. While posting the now-viral video, the news agency wrote in the captions, “Bihar: People in a flood-affected village in Bhagalpur district made a makeshift boat to carry a patient to a hospital.” The clip opens by showing a patient lying on a makeshift boat made out of water barrels, ropes and bamboo. Right Word | AAP’s governance model in Delhi: All that glitters is not gold

The governance model of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has got exposed leading to knee jerk reactions from its leaders. One of its ministers in Delhi, Satyendar Jain, is already in jail under the charges of financial irregularities. He hasn’t been able to get bail after repeated attempts. Now another of its ministers Manish Sisodia is also facing an investigation for alleged irregularities in the excise policy. Meanwhile, AAP leaders have started targeting Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena by running a smear campaign against him. This is a standard operating procedure adopted by AAP. Whenever AAP leaders get cornered, they launch a counter offensive to divert the focus from the main issue and attack those cornering them with wild allegations. In the past also AAP leaders have levelled false allegations. Once the immediate crisis is over, they backtrack and apologise. Kejriwal himself had apologised to the Union Minister Arun Jaitley in 2018. Along with him his party leaders Raghav Chadha and Sanj

The Rajpath renovation: For those legions of doomsayers, it’s time to eat their words — and ice-cream

Image
The doomsayers have been rebuffed again as the renovated Rajpath area prepares to welcome back aam Indians. Few have the grace and gumption to own up when they have been proved wrong. So journalist Tavleen Singh’s admission this week on Twitter that the about-to-reopen lawns alongside Rajpath in New Delhi actually look good after the revamp is unlikely to trigger an avalanche of similar acknowledgements. Who would want to admit they had been instigated by photographs and their own biases rather than any real proof of imminent disaster? In the summer of 2021, a series of photos of New Delhi’s Rajpath looking like Kharkhiv after the Russians bombed it, exploded across the Internet. The accompanying anguished posts screamed that the Union government intended to change the entire character of Lutyens’ Delhi starting with uprooting everything on the Rajpath lawns — from trees and lamp-posts to the ornamental pools, iron chains and bollards. Apocalypse was deemed to be imminent. The pho

Why India can’t let inimical forces in Nepal stop Gorkhas from joining Indian Army over Agnipath

Inputs over the weekend stated that Nepal has urged the Government of India to currently stall the recruitment of Gorkhas under the Agnipath scheme. The Nepalese foreign minister, Narayan Khadke, stated this after meeting the Indian ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava. This happened a day before recruitment was to commence in Nepal’s Lumbini province, for which official permission had yet to be granted. The Indian Army Chief is scheduled to visit Nepal in early September to be bestowed with the appointment of honorary chief of the Nepalese Army. It is likely that the issue would be raised during his visit. A statement in the Nepalese newspaper, Kantipur Daily , stated: “Although the Nepal government is positive about facilitating the recruitment of Gorkhas in the Indian Army, but the government will formally make the decision regarding the matter after holding talks with other major political parties as the Government of India has introduced a new military recruitment.” Further Nep
