Petrol and diesel prices unchanged for 15th day; here are fuel rates in your city today on 1 August 2021

Petrol prices remained unchanged in the country for the 15th day on Sunday while diesel rates also did not go up. In Delhi, petrol prices remained at Rs 101.84 a litre while the rate of diesel was at Rs 89.87. In Mumbai, petrol can be bought at Rs 107.83 per litre and diesel costs Rs 97.45 for one litre. One litre of petrol is priced at Rs 102.49 in Chennai and diesel costs Rs 94.39 per litre in the city. Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 102.08 per litre and diesel is priced at Rs 93.02. While petrol can be bought at Rs 110.20 in Bhopal and diesel is priced at Rs 98.67 for one litre. Since 4 May, fuel prices have been on the rise in the country after the assembly elections in states and union territories including West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. New Delhi: A special team of Delhi Police has on Saturday arrested the most wanted lady don of Rajasthan Anuradha Chaudhari, a close associate of Kala Jathedi group allegedly involved in extortion, kidnapping, murder and abduction cases. The Special Cell had earlier arrested most wanted gangster Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi who was involved in several cases of murder, kidnapping, abduction and attempt to murder in Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab with the cumulative reward of Rs 6,00,000 on him. Maharashtra HSC result 2021 | The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has confirmed that it will not declare the Maharashtra HSC result 2021 today (31 July), according to a report. The deadline for states to announce their Class 12 results was 31 July as per a Supreme Court order and there was a buzz that Maharashtra Board will also declare the Class 12 results today, however, Maharashtra students will have to wait for a few more days to get their results, the board said. Confirming the same, an MSBSHSE official told Hindustan Times that, “A link activated by the MSBSHSE meant for confirmation of seat number was mistaken for the results link, leaving students and parents anxious. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) declared the results for classes X and XII on Saturday. Students can now check their scorecards on the official websites upmsp.edu.in  and  upresults.nic.in . This year's exams witnessed 99.53 percent of Class 10 and 97.88 percent of Class 12 students clearing the exams. The pass percentage in Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams has been 97.88, 97.22, and 97.92, respectively in the Class 12 exam. In Uttar Pradesh, Class 12  girls have outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 98.4, while 97.47 percent of boys have cleared the exam. Assam, Nagaland agree to withdraw forces from inter-state border; Himanta Biswa Sarma calls it historic step

CISCE extends application deadline for improvement, compartment exams till 4 August; check eligiblity here

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has informed that ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) improvement and compartment examinations will begin from 16 August. In the latest notification, the council has also announced that the deadline for registering the improvement and compartment examinations has been extended. Previously, the registration window for the compartment and improvement exams was scheduled to close on 1 August but now the deadline has been extended to 4 August. “The ICSE and ISC Year 2021 Improvement and Compartment Examinations will commence from 16 August, 2021,” the notice reads. India registers over 40,000 fresh cases for fourth day; 12 states, UTs report rise in active cases

New Delhi: With a single-day rise of 41,649 new cases, India's COVID-19 tally climbed to 3,16,13,993 on Saturday, while the death toll due to the viral disease shot up to 4,23,810 with 593 more people succumbing to it, the Union health ministry said. The number of active coronavirus cases in the country registered an increase for the fourth consecutive day, according to the ministry's data updated at 8 am. The number of active cases has gone up to 4,08,920, accounting for 1.29 percent of the total number of cases, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.37 percent, the data showed. An increase of 3,765 cases was recorded in the active COVID-19 tally in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.34 percent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.42 percent, according to the ministry. Police in Mizoram have booked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and several other officials of his state in connection with the deadly violence at a disputed border point between the two northeastern neighbours less than a week ago. Virar bank robbery: ICICI Bank manager killed, cashier seriously injured; suspect an ex-employee, say reports

A manager of the ICICI bank was killed and a cashier was seriously injured on Thursday (29 July) after they were attacked during a robbery at the bank's Virar (East) branch near Mumbai. The robbers were trying to escape with cash and gold from the bank. The incident took place at around 8.45 pm at an ICICI Bank branch in Virar (East), a coastal city located on the outskirts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The two staffers have been identified as Yogita Vartak-Chowdhary (Assistant Manager) and Shraddha Devrukh (Cashier). According to Virar Police, the manager and cashier were winding up for the day when the duo rushed into the bank. During that time, the bank was half shuttered.
