China hikes Kailash Mansarovar Yatra fees, Indians will have to spend Rs 1.85 lakh

China has started issuing visas for the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra which was closed for three years. This time Beijing has made very strict rules. Along with this, many types of fees for travel have almost doubled. Now Indian citizens will have to spend at least Rs 1.85 lakh for the journey. If the pilgrim will keep a worker or helper from Nepal for help, then they will have to pay extra $300 i.e. Rs 24 thousand. This fee is called ‘Grass Damaging Fee’. China argues that during the journey, the grass around Mount Kailash is damaged, which will be compensated by the traveller. New changes China has added some rules which have made the process more difficult. For example, now every passenger will have to get their unique identification done at the Kathmandu base itself. For this, there will be scanning of fingerprints and iris. Nepal tour operators say, according to The Kathmandu Post , the tough rules have been made to limit the entry of foreign pilgrims, especially Indians. The Kail

Delhi govt has control over services: Supreme Court on Delhi-Centre power row

A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court, in a unanimous verdict, on Thursday ruled that the Delhi government has legislative and executive powers over services. Hearing the Centre versus the Delhi government over the issue of demarcation of power, a Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said an elected government needs to have control over the administration. The bench, which also comprised Justices M R Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli and P S Narasimha, said democracy and federal structure are part of the basic structure of the Constitution. The Constitution bench was set up to hear the legal issue concerning the scope of legislative and executive powers of the Centre and the National Capital Territory government over control of services in Delhi. Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: Hung assembly, say exit polls. The same was predicted in 2018. Will it come true?

Image
The final vote has been cast for the Karnataka Assembly election and the results for the southern state will only be known on 13 May. However, in the meantime, various exit polls have been released, painting the political picture of the state and deciding the future of the parties – the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S). The exit polls for Karnataka have predicted a hung assembly, with most giving a slight edge to the Congress. The other big takeaway from the exit polls is that HD Kumaraswamy’s JD(S) is most likely to play kingmaker in the 224-seat Assembly. It remains to be seen, however, if pollsters are right, as they were in 2018. For those who have forgotten, in 2018, the exit polls had predicted a hung assembly with the BJP emerging as the single largest party and the actual results had gone the same way. Will 2023 be a repeat of 2018? Have the pollsters correctly predicted the political future? Here’s an in-depth look of what happen

‘Baseless And Misleading’: GSI on reports about lithium reserve found in Rajasthan

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has rejected media reports claiming the discovery of huge Lithium reserves in Rajasthan which can meet 80 per cent of India’s energy demand. Terming the media reports regarding the discovery of large lithium reserves “completely baseless and misleading”, the GSI said that the amount of Lithium present in that region will clear only after the completion of the drilling work and completion of the report. “The GSI is carrying out exploration in the Degana area, Nagour, Rajasthan. The exploration project is functional since 2019-20 and the drilling work is in progress. The amount of these metals present in that region will become clear only after the completion of the drilling work and finalisation of the report,” the GSI clarified.
