OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT has gained quite traction on social media in the past few months, thanks to its smart and informed responses to practically every question submitted to it by users. With the AI-powered chatbot taking the world by storm, it has got almost everyone including those in classrooms, boardrooms, and even social media. Perihaan Atakan of Turkey couldn’t stop crying when she was reunited with her injured cat Laurenz almost two weeks after a deadly earthquake shook her world. It was a sign of hope for her, as it was for thousands of people living in relief camps who were able to reunite with their beloved pets following the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey on 6 February. Disaster responders from Humane Society International rescued 1,500 such animals from the rubble. The organisation works for animal protection and reached Turkey last month. The team with representation from different countries across the world also included three members from India, who recently returned after providing emergency aid. “It was heart-wrenching to see the scale of the disaster. Quirky message on safe driving leaves Nagaland minister impressed

Many a times, we come across boards that tell us to drive slow. While writing such a message is important to make people aware about the rule, there is no dearth of defaulters. But how about delivering the message in a creative way? This is exactly what a village in Nagaland has done by planting a board which reads, “Drive slow, see our village. Drive fast, see our judge.” The creativity of this village has now caught the attention of Nagaland minister Temjen Imna Along. He posted the picture of this quirky board on his Twitter handle and mentioned in the caption that he was amazed by the creativity of the villagers. Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, has licensed a pioneering technology to Reliance Life Sciences that has the potential to revolutionise gene therapy for hereditary eye diseases. It is for the first time a gene related technology has been developed and transferred from an academic institution to a company in India, IIT Kanpur said. The gene therapy technology from IIT Kanpur will be further developed as an indigenous product by Reliance Life Sciences. The technology licensing agreement was signed on Friday, 10 March, 2023, between IIT Kanpur and Reliance Life Sciences Pvt. India reports two H3N2 deaths: How deadly is this virus?

New Delhi: H3N2 influenza virus has claimed two lives in India. The first death was reported in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, while the second was in Haryana, the neighbouring state to capital New Delhi. This comes at a time when people continue to maintain health precautions due to deadly Covid-19. India so far has reported 90 cases of H3N2 influenza and eight cases of H1N1 virus. H3N2 deaths in India A 82-year-old man from Alur Taluk of Hassan district in Karnataka was the first patient to succumb to H3N2 virus in India. As per the district health officer of Hassan, Hire Gowda died on 1 March due to the virus. He was a diabetic and also suffered from hypertension. He was admitted to a to hospital on 24 February. The sample, sent for test, confirmed he was infected by the virus on 6 March. BSF nabs intruder at India Pakistan border in Punjab, 3rd in 2 days

Amritsar: The Border Security Force (BSF) has nabbed yet another intruder from Pakistan near the International Border in Punjab. This is the third Pakistani arrested by the BSF while trying to cross into Punjab over the last two days. The intruder, who was arrested by the BSF in the Ferozpur Sector of Punjab during the intervening night of March 9-10 has been identified as a resident of the Khyber district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The BSF informed in a statement that the intruder had crossed International Border into India near border outpost Tirath in the Ferozpure sector of Punjab. “BSF troop arrested him and conducted his search. During initial questioning he revealed to be a resident of Dist. Khyber, Pakistan. Further course of action per the SOP is under progress,” the BSF in statement said. New Delhi: In a historic decision, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has selected a female officer to command a frontline combat unit in the western sector. The IAF officer – Group Captain Shaliza Dhami – will command a missile squadron in the western sector against Pakistan. Commissioned in 2003 as a helicopter pilot, Group Captain Dhami has over 2800 hours of flying experience. A Qualified Flying Instructor, she has served as Flight Commander of a Helicopter Unit in the Western sector. Having been commended by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief on two occasions, the IAF officer is presently posted in the operations branch of a frontline command headquarters. US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to begin 4-day visit to India

New Delhi: US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo will visit India’s capital New Delhi from 7 to 10 March in a bid to strengthen bilateral trade and business ties between the two countries. The India-US Commercial Dialogue will coincide with Raimondo’s visit, where the two sides are expected to discuss cooperation across various sectors that will open new avenues in trade and investment opportunities. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that the British destroyed India’s education system. Bhagwat remarked in a speech that 70 per cent to 80 per cent of India’s population was educated before the British took over, and there was no unemployment. He added that there was no caste or colour discrimination because the educational system was geared at fostering independence in all students. Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude hits Nicobar islands region; no casualties reported

New Delhi: On Monday morning, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Nicobar Islands. The quake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, jolted the region at 5 am, according to the National Centre of Seismology (NCS).
