New Delhi : The Delhi government will appoint 5,500 ex-home guards as marshals in DTC and cluster buses plying in the city to ensure safety of women passengers. New Delhi : MTech students in IITs will now have to pay more with the IIT Council on Friday approving a fee increase to bring it to the level of BTech courses. The Council chaired by Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal also approved the 'tenure track pathway' to decide whether a new faculty member is going 'up' or 'out' after a fifth-year review of his or her performance. New Delhi: In a bid to clean up the bureaucracy, the Centre has sacked 15 very senior Income Tax officers facing corruption charges. These officers are at the rank of Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CIT), Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT) and Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (JCIT). So far, the government has sacked 64 high ranking tax offices, including 12 officers from Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) who were compulsorily retired under Fundamental Rule 56(J). New Delhi : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that isolated places over Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat are likely to receive heavy rainfall. With voting for the 90-member Haryana Assembly  scheduled for 21 October  in a single-phase election, the Election Commission is getting ready to conduct this most important exercise in a democratic setup. The term of the current Haryana Assembly will end on 2 November. Out of the 90 Assembly constituencies in the state, 17 are reserved for Scheduled Castes as per the Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 2008. The state has a total number of 1,81,91,228 people as general electors while 1,07,486 are enrolled as Service Voters taking the final electoral rolls to 1,82,98,714 who will exercise their right to franchise in 19,425 polling stations.
