Tremors felt in Delhi after 6.4-magnitude earthquake jolts Nepal

Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby cities after an earthquake of 6.4 magnitude hit Nepal late on Friday night.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.4, Occurred on 03-11-2023, 23:32:54 IST, Lat: 28.84 & Long: 82.19, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Nepal,” National Center for Seismology posted on X, formerly Twitter.

A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Nepal on Friday night, the National Center for Seismology said. The tremors were also felt in North India, including Delhi, Noida and Gurugram, and Bihar, but officials had no immediate reports of injuries or serious damage.

The epicentre of the quake was in Nepal at a depth of 10 km, the NCS said.

People in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) felt strong tremors and rushed out of their homes. This is the third time in a month that strong earthquakes have struck Nepal.

Last month, the national capital region witnessed multiple tremors. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi on October 3 after multiple earthquakes hit Nepal within an hour. While earthquakes of 4.6 and 6.2 magnitude within 25 minutes of each other, a third of 3.8 magnitude hit 15 minutes after, and a fourth of 3.1 magnitude 13 minutes later.

Another earthquake of 3.1 magnitude struck Faridabad in Haryana on October 15.
