In Graphics | Ahead of 5-state Assembly elections, a simple guide to understand the polling process

Poll season is here again. We are just days away from elections. Starting 7 November, five states will go to the polls with the collective results to be announced on 3 December.

On 7 November, Mizoram will go to polls along with the state of Chhattisgarh. The latter will see a second round of polling on 17 November along with Madhya Pradesh. This will be followed by polling in Rajasthan on 25 November and Telangana on 30 November.

These elections not only hold significance at the state level, but also at the national level, as they will be the last such poll to be held before the 2024 general election, scheduled to be held sometime in May.

As we gear up for this political activity, here’s some interesting trivia and facts about Assembly elections – from the cost of conducting such an exercise to how much can a candidate spend during his campaigning.
