J&K: Security amped up as encounter underway in Rajouri, terrorist with LeT links gunned down

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, security has been heightened as an encounter is underway between forces and terrorists in the Narllah area of the district.

The encounter broke out in the Rajouri district of Jammu on Tuesday. A terrorist, believed to have links with LeT, was killed in the gunfight.

An Indian Army jawan died in the encounter, while three more personnel, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), were injured in the exchange of fire.

Army dog dies protecting solider 

Making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, in keeping with the highest traditions of the Indian armed forces, a six-year-old army dog (female Labrador), leading a column of soldiers on the trail of fleeing terrorists laid down her life shielding her handler.

Kent, a canine from the 21 Army Dog Unit, the Public Relations Officer, Indian Army, Jammu informed through a statement.

Kent was at the forefront of ‘Operation Sujaligala’.

Last week, a terrorist was killed in a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Reasi district.

On 3 September, the Indian Army defused an Improvised explosive device (IED) in the same region.
