Parliament Monsoon Session to begin today

The government has a strong legislative agenda for the Parliament's Monsoon Session, which begins on Thursday, with the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023 being one of 31 Bills on the schedule.

Aside from the Personal Data Protection Bill, the Bill to Repeal the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, which was published in May of this year, is one of the main Bills scheduled for the monsoon session. The ordinance regulates services in Delhi and was enacted following the Supreme Court's decision on the Delhi Government's appeal.

During the monsoon session of Parliament, which begins Thursday, the whole Opposition plans to highlight Manipur violence, railway safety, unemployment, inflation, the situation of the India-China border, and the trade balance between the two nations, among other topics.

On Day 1 of the Parliament's Monsoon Session, several of the parties want to submit an adjournment motion about the unrest in Manipur, among other problems.

9 killed, 13 injured in accident on ISKCON flyover in Ahmedabad

On Thursday, a speeding luxury automobile drove into a crowd at an accident site on a flyover in Ahmedabad, killing nine people and injuring 13 more.

A police official said the accident happened after midnight at the ISKCON bridge on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway when the automobile, which was said to be travelling at above 100 kmph, drove into a throng gathered there following an accident involving two cars.

Local media said that youth from Botad and Surendranagar were among the dead.

Six NDRF teams deployed in Gujarat's Rajkot, Gir Somnath, other cities in view of heavy rainfall 

In response to heavy rains, six National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in Gujarat's Gir Somnath, Kutch, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli, and Rajkot districts, authorities said on Wednesday.

In the aftermath of severe rains in Gujarat on Wednesday, one National Disaster Response Force team was deployed in Gir Somnath, Kutch, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli, and Rajkot districts, according to the NDRF.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a daily prediction on Tuesday predicting severe to extremely heavy rainfall in several portions of Gujarat.
