CMA June 2021: ICMAI extends application deadline to 30 May; check all details here

CMA June 2021: The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India (ICMAI) has extended the last date to apply for the Foundation, Intermediate, and Final Course for June, 2021 term of Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examinations.

Those who wish to apply can now do it till 30 May without any late fees by visiting the official website — icmai.in. The decision has been taken due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis across the country.

Aspirants can follow these steps to apply:

- Visit the website icmai.in

- Click on the ‘Students’ tab in the main menu

- On the new page, click on the ‘Exam’ tab

- Check the sidebar menu and open the online examination application form

- Read all the instructions carefully and click on the online application

- Select the course for which you want to apply for

- Click on ‘Accept’ and fill the form

- Upload all the documents, pay the fee and submit the form

- Save a copy. If required, take a printout for future reference

The status of students who have chosen to opt-out of the Intermediate and Final Examinations, December, 2020 session will remain the same for the examinations to be held next month.

The intermediate and final examinations will commence from 26 July and will go on till 2 August.

Application fee:

For inland centres, one group, the fee for intermediate exams is Rs 1,200 and for final exams, it is Rs 1,400. For overseas centres, it is $90 for intermediate and $100 for finals.

New coronavirus variant emerge in India: How should our COVID response change?

After genome sequencing of over 10,000 COVID-19 cases in India, researchers have discovered a new variant with two new mutations which may be better at evading the immune system. In 15-20 percent of samples from the Indian state of Maharashtra (the state accounting for 62 percent of cases in the country) a new, double mutation in key areas of the virus has been detected. These are now known as the E484Q and L452R mutations. What makes the variant different? Both these mutations are concerning because they are located in a key portion of the virus – the spike protein – that it uses to penetrate human cells. Spike proteins attach via a “receptor binding domain”, meaning the virus can attach to receptors in our cells. These new mutations include changes to the spike protein that make it a “better fit” for human cells. This means the virus can gain entry more easily and multiply faster. Aditya L1 Mission: Spacecraft is nearing its final phase, says ISRO chief

Aditya L1 spacecraft is nearing its final phase, and manoeuvres to enter the L1 point are expected to be completed by January 7, 2024, according to ISRO Chairman S Somanath. “Aditya is on the way. I think it has reached almost its final phase,” the ISRO chief told PTI on the sidelines of an event organised at VSSC to commemorate the 60th year of the First Sounding Rocket Launch. Aditya L1, India’s first space-based mission to study the Sun, was successfully launched on September 2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota. The spacecraft, after travelling about 1.5 million km from Earth over 125 days, is expected to be placed in a Halo orbit around the Lagrangian point L1, considered closest to the Sun.
