Independence Day Speech 2019 LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Red Fort ten minutes before his schedule. He was expected to reach around 7.30 am but according to the live visuals being broadcast on Doordarshan, the prime minister was already being received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the iconic Red Fort.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
