Supreme Court seeks EC's response after hearing 21 Opposition parties' plea for audit of 50% of EVMs with VVPAT

A Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjiv Khanna listed the plea on EVM audits, filed by the opposition leaders for 25 March and asked the EC to depute an officer to assist the court.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
