Bereft of a male elephant, the population of six remaining border-cruising female elephants in the wildlife haven that is Assam's Patharia Hills Reserve Forest could soon collapse, warn researchers.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
