On 10 January, Alok Verma was removed from his post at the CBI after a high-powered selection committee, comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Justice AK Sikri of the Supreme Court.
