Governor's Rule to end in Jammu & Kashmir on 19 Dec; President's Rule to come into force if state machinery isn't restored in time

Under the Governor's rule, the State Assembly is either kept in suspended animation or dissolved. If it is not possible to restore state machinery before the expiry of the six-month duration, the provision is extended.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
