In a pre-dawn gunfight on Tuesday, four militants were killed in Shopian by government forces - all local members of the Hizbul Mujahideen - in the Nadigam area of the South Kashmir district.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
