PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had written to Malik to inform him that her party, National Conference, and the Congress will "shortly" approach him to stake claim to form the government in state.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
