Vernon Gonsalves, one of the five activists arrested by Pune police in August for alleged links with Maoists, filed a bail application in a court in Pune on Friday.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
