The Supreme Court, which unanimously struck down part of the British-era law that criminalised gay sex, has traced the history of Section 377 in its judgment back to the reign of King Henry VIII in 1533.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
