Born in Borim, Goa, on 18 November 1934, Borkar was conferred the Padma Shri in 2016 for his contributions to Indian music.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
