The gutkha scam arrests come a day after the CBI searched over 40 locations in Tamil Nadu, including the premises of Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijayabasker and DGP TK Rajendran, prompting calls for their resignation.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
