The heavy South West Monsoon has wreaked havoc in Kerala as water levels continue to rise in rivers and reservoirs. A third red alert was issued for the Idukki Dam reservoir on Thursday night.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
