The prime minister had last week announced a relief of Rs 500 crore toward the Kerala floods, in addition to Rs 100 crore from Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
