National Commission for Women's recommendation for abolition of the practice of confession in Christian church in the country has stirred a hornet's nest in Kerala, where Christians constitute about 18 percent of the state's 33.1-million population.

There was action and drama in Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Hemant Soren, the state’s chief minister, resigned from his post, and was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
