India has less than 9 lakh active COVID-19 cases for first time in a month; total of 69.06 lakh infections recorded in country

New Delhi:  India's COVID-19 tally went past 69.06 lakh on Friday after 70,496 fresh infections were registered in the span of 24 hours while the number of active COVID-19 cases fell below 9 lakh after a month, said the Union health ministry. The total number of confirmed cases mounted to 69,06,151. The toll climbed to 1,06,490 with 964 more people succumbing to the viral infection, according to the latest data released by health ministry at 8 am. The total COVID-19 recoveries have surged to 59,06,069 pushing the recovery rate to 85.52 percent. While there are 8,93,592 active cases comprising 12.94 percent of the total caseload. The COVID-19 case fatality rate was recorded at 1.54 percent. India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August and 40 lakh on 5 September. No posters to be installed outside houses of COVID-19 patients under home isolation in Delhi, say sources

New Delhi : There will be no posters outside the houses of COVID-19 patients under home isolation in the national capital, official sources said on Thursday. They said the move is aimed at minimising the stigma resulting from the affixing of such posters at the front doors of such patients. "There will be no poster outside the houses of COVID-19 patients who are under home isolation," a source said. According to authorities, there are currently 12,890 COVID-19 patients under home isolation in Delhi. Those having mild symptoms or are asymptomatic are suggested to stay under home isolation under the Delhi government's policy. Until now, posters were affixed at the entrance of of their homes. Delhi govt allows restaurants to operate round-the-clock, says tourism license not required

New Delhi: In a major relief to city restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Delhi government said that these establishments will be allowed to operate round-the-clock and requirement of tourism licences will also be removed. The government also announced other measures such as initiating a process to abolish police licences and health trade licenses from local bodies for restaurants to end ''permit raj'' in the industry, according to a statement. The decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and it was attended by restaurant owners.
