Bhagat Singh birth anniversary 2019: Pakistan-based organisation urges Narendra Modi to award Bharat Ratna to Indian revolutionary, says report

As India readies to observe the 112th birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh on 28 September, Lahore-based Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accord the Bharat Ratna posthumously to the freedom fighter,  Times of India   reported. Indian Express reported  that former Haryana DGP MS Malik said a national-level function will be organised at Jat Bhawan in Chandigarh on 28 September to celebrate the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. Sharad Pawar calls off visit to ED's office on Mumbai Police's request, cites law and order situation

Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, has called off his 'voluntary' visit to the Enforcement Directory in South Mumbai's Ballard Estate after police requested him to cancel visit in view of maintaining law and order in Maharashtra. Pawar addressed the media outside his residence, stating that Mumbai Police commissioner and Joint Joint Commissioner of Police (CP) visited him at his residence, asking him to comply with ED's email and not visit the office on Friday as prohibitory orders are in place. Srinagar: Fresh restrictions were imposed in parts of Kashmir on Friday to maintain law and order in view of congregational prayers, even as markets in the valley remained shut and public transport was off the roads for the 54th day, officials said. Restrictions under Section 144 CrPc were imposed on Friday morning in various parts of the valley, the officials said. They said the curbs were imposed in five police station areas of Nowhatta, Rainawari, Safakadal, Khanyar and Maharaj Gunj in downtown (interior areas) and in Hazratbal zone in Srinagar. The restrictions were also imposed in Ganderbal, Anantnag, Awantipora, Sopore and Handwara towns of the valley, the officials added. Maradu flats: Supreme Court directs demolition to be completed in 138 days, orders setting up of one-member committee to oversee case

New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Friday directed that demolition of flats built on the coastal zone of Kochi's Maradu be completed in 138 days, in accordance with the time schedule provided by the Kerala government. The top court also ordered setting up of a one-member committee of retired high court judge to oversee demolition and assess total compensation. A bench comprising justices Arun Mishra and S Ravindra Bhat directed freezing of assets of builders and promoters who were involved in the construction of illegal buildings in the coastal zone areas of Kochi. Lucknow : BJP leader and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh is scheduled to appear before a CBI court in Lucknow on Friday in connection with a criminal case related to the Babri Masjid demolition.
